So tell us why it's technically infeasible to update the existing v4.7.5.90 plugin to adhere to the new certificate check. We all know how wildly talented and smart AgileBits employees are, that's why we're paying customers and not paying some other company for the same service. Oh? Then why not just update the certificate check and release a plugin update? Why is the default response to "I'm experiencing an issue with your software" to tell the customer to pay up or change their behavior? I’m not sure that any of this has to do with venture capitalists, I've happily spent over $100 on this functionality since I've been a customer, but now AgileBits is telling me that in order to keep it using it as is, I'll need to spend triple the amount over the same time period. SOOO many new features have been added to the app over the years, zero of which I actually use, outside of the basic premise of "save my logins, autofill them in the browser".

I do not accept being forced to upgrade to maintain the same level of functionality I was previously experiencing. I accept the risk of lack of security fixes. While I see your point, those who have chosen to remain on Windows 7 haven't likely experienced their Start button displaying a non-functional message to upgrade while refusing to show the usual lists of apps and settings, which is what we're experiencing here.

You'll never be forced to, and 1Password (the company) will never compel you to upgrade, but if another software provider that you rely on releases something that no longer works with the older version of 1Password that you've purchased, that may be the signal that it's time for an upgrade. If you're looking to use 1Password with a modern operating system or web browser, you should generally upgrade to a modern version of 1Password. This is pretty common when it comes to software in general and is not unique to 1Password. Eventually, your operating system and web browser of choice, should you choose to keep them up to date (as you should) will no longer work with older versions of 1Password. But that version of 1Password can't be expected to continue working alongside newer versions of software than it was built to integrate and work with. Standalone licenses have always been sold to grant the use of a single version of 1Password for as long as you care to use it.
